It is important to give kids opportunities to express their creativity in different ways.  This year, I have introduced a dedicated space for that to happen in…our “Maker Space”!  In this corner of our classroom, I have bins of materials that students can use to build with.  They can use these to build whatever they’d like or they can use task cards for some inspiration!  These task cards show pictures of buildings, statues, bridges, and monuments, as well as seasonal/holiday objects.  They can use posters showing basic engineering skills to help in the building process.  Students use this space during free play, when they finish independent work, or when they arrive in the morning.  This new space is a favorite in our classroom!
