Last week we spent time reviewing short u and short i word families. We read “Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Rud”. We built and read “ig” and “ud” words with magnet letters. Then we wrote some of the words in mud splatters and picked two to write in sentences. We followed directions to make a pig in the mud and glued the mud splatters around it. At home, you can practice by telling your child a word and asking him/her to tell you a word that rhymes. When reading, you can also look for rhyming words. (This is always a favorite when we read at school!)
