Mrs. Carol Buchholz
Mrs. Buchholz joined St. Stephen School faculty in 1998. She is the Eighth grade homeroom teacher and teaches Science for grades 5-8. After school Mrs. Buchholz leads the Scrabble Club and National Junior Honor Society.
As the Eighth grade moderator, Mrs. Buchholz also dedicates her time to coordinating the various 8th grade activities including the 8th grade Retreat, Eighth grade Class trip, Class Night (a catered dinner and awards ceremony for the graduating class), and the long awaited Graduation Night. The Class trip - one of the favorite memories of St. Stephen alumni- has included trips to Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Toronto.
Mrs. Buchholz received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University at Buffalo. Prior to her teaching career, she served as a plant industrial engineer for 15 years at Fisher Price Toys, East Aurora.
Since joining St. Stephen, she has been involved in the development of the Science curriculum (grades 5-8) for the Diocese and serves as a Member of the Policy Board for the Tonawanda/Grand Island Teacher Center (a group consisting of 17 appointed members from the Tonawanda and Grand Island School Districts).
Since 2008, Mrs. Buchholz has also served as Assistant to the Principal, Mrs. Ende, and is one of the school’s EschoolData coordinators.
Mrs. Buchholz has been the recipient of several grants including the Tower Foundation Grant which provided Science resources (microscopes, balances, rock kits, simple machine models and other manipulatives), a BOCES Technology Grant (a class set of Palm hand held computers and probes) as well as mini grants that provided additional Science resources.
As a alumni parent, Mrs. Buchholz served on the HSA board as Treasurer. Mrs. Buchholz was also a Girl Scout Leader for six years.

Q. In your opinion, what is special about St. Stephen School?
A. Small, friendly, caring environment with excellent academic performance.
Q. Why did you want to become a teacher/administrator?
A. To make learning Science something that all students find to be interesting and exciting – especially girls.
Q. What are you most proud of regarding your teaching experience at St. Stephens?
A. All my students to date have scored a 3 or 4 on the NYS Intermediate Science Test
Q. Do your students often participate in certain contests or receive recognition?
A. The National Science League Science Contest
