Our Thanksgiving Feast will be on Monday, November 24^th. Room moms will be contacting parents to send in food for the feast. We are also collecting $2 to go towards pizza for the feast.

First grade collected the most items for the food drive, and has won a free dress down day scheduled for Monday, November 24^th. Great job!

Helpful tips for working with your child at home:

-Try to read to your child and with your child every night for a few minutes.

- When we begin learning math facts, make flash cards and practice with them a few times a week.

- Read the newspaper or watch the news and discuss what is going on in the world with your child.

- Encourage your child to keep a journal at home.

Homework will typically be given out 3-4 days a week.

This is my fourth year teaching at St. Stephen’s. My first year, I taught reading and math to small groups. The following year, I took over for Mrs. Silsby in first grade in December. Last year, I began my first full year as the first grade teacher. I graduated from SUNY Cortland with a B.S. in Childhood Education in June of 2004. I then received my M.S in Literacy from Canisius College in May of 2006, and am currently working on obtaining New York State certification in Special Education at Canisius College.
