Clubs & After School
Programs
Book Club
Students in grades 3
through 6 meet each week to read a book together. The first book read
was “Tale of Depereaux.” The next selection is “Inkheart.”

Choir Club
The Choir includes
children from 4th_ 8th grade. We meet 2 – 3 times
a month after school in the music room to learn songs for Mass. We sing
these songs for the School Liturgy which is once a month. All grades
must attend the monthly Mass and sit with their class. The Choir sits
together while singing the songs they learned for the Mass.

Cooking Club
The Cooking Club for
students in grades 3-5 meets once every quarter. Students follow
recipes to prepare, measure, mix, and bake. In the past, students have
worked together to make caramel candy apples, scones, and cookies. At
the end of each meeting, students are able to eat and enjoy the treats
that they have prepared.

Green Club
Students in grades 5
to 8 meet monthly to discuss environmental issues. We are working on
creating a “greener” school. Club members collect paper in the school
for recycling two times each week. A monthly contest is conducted to
determine which class recycles the most. We also collect used cell
phones for our troops and countries who need them.

Holiday
Club
Students in grades K
through 8 meet to make a craft and enjoy a snack to celebrate major
holidays.

Literature Quilt
Club
Students in grades 1
and 2 meet to enjoy literature. They read a special story book and make
a paper quilt that depicts the story.

Math Club
Students in grades 7
and 8 gather to practice solving Math problems with the goal of
improving scores when competing in Math contests. St. Stephen’s
students participate in at least two contests, The American Mathematics
Competition for Grade 8, sponsored by The Mathematical Association of
America, and the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute Math Contest for
Seventh Grade.

Mileage Club
The St. Stephen's
Mileage Club was very successful this year. Mrs. Figler is happy to
report that the 7th and 8th grade students accumulated 18,000 miles by
converting activities that they participated in to miles. They improved
their fitness levels and should be very proud of their accomplishments!

Mission Club
Mission Club is open
to all students from Grade 1 through Grade 8. Their mission is to help
others throughout our community. They meet on the second Wednesday of
the month.

National Junior
Honor Society
The National Junior
Honor Society is for 2nd semester 7th, and 8th
graders. Members are selected and work on developing leadership and
character, and also work on various service projects.

National Elementary
Honor Society
Students in grades 4
through 6 are invited to join based on their leadership qualities and
character. They work on various service projects.

Poster Club
This club is open to
students of all grade levels. It is for any student interested in
making posters and entering contests. At the meetings, various contests
are discussed and studetns may begin work on their posters, which they
then complete at home. Our success rate has been outstanding. We have
had many winners, and hopefully will continue to do so.

Scrabble Club
Scrabble Club is for
students in grades 3-8. The club meets monthly and has fun playing
Scrabble games, with the intent of working up to a school tournament.

Volley Ball Club
Students in grades
5-8 are introduced to the sport of Volleyball. Participants practice
basic ball handling skills and game play.
