St Stephen School children learned some very practical fire safety tips from Grand Island’s own volunteer fire company on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. The firemen presented an impressive demonstration of the speed in which a fire can spread in a home. They also explained the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique, as well as the proper use of a fire extinguisher. Later, children were given a chance to see up close the special equipment used by the Grand Island firefighters, with six lucky children winning “A Trip on the Fire Truck” in the very near future.
